The laboratory open to students

With the activation of the course of "photogrammetric techniques applied to urban planning and architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of Bari, the laboratory of the Stereophotogrammetric Section was opened to students for the survey of monuments and urban environments, existing at the Institute of Architecture and Town Planning of the same Faculty, transferred (1972) from the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce (Corso Cavour n.2) to the Campus universitrio (via Re David 200). The only equipment inherited from the Section, until then aimed at the sole relief, were: - Wild P30 phototeodolite; - the autograph Wild A2. For educational purposes, everything was missing, starting with the stereoscope. Someone said "give me a handful of young people and I do miracles" and the young people of the photogrammetry course did their miracle with the exhibition of works, set up at the end of the course. The metric room has been replaced by the common camera. The stereoscope has been replaced with a pair of mirrors, arranged at 90 ° so as to allow viewing of a pair of stereo photographs, reversed in the print. For the winner of the exhibition, in memory of prof. Raffaele De Vita, Wild Italia S.p.A. he had offered a prize trip to Switzerland for a visit to the Wild plants in Heerbrugg. The administrator of Wild Italia, part of the Jury, impressed by the enthusiasm with which the students had set up the exhibition, extended the prize to all participants.
