The laboratory in the monumental complex of Santa Scolastica

With the transfer of the laboratory to the monumental complex of S.Scolastica, the autograph Wild A40, granted for free use, was brought back from the police station to the laboratory, for the start of the census and documentation of the Cultural Heritage of Puglia and, for for this purpose, the Department of Culture of the Puglia Region had displaced the young people of the ex-law 285, trained in 1981 at the laboratory with the "Project trulli" of the Puglia Region for the census and cataloging of the trulli of the Itria Valley. The census and cataloging system adopted was the one already tested in the trulli project, namely:

• identification of buildings through a large-scale aerial photoplan;     
• check the status of places in the countryside;     
• taken with the Wild C120 stereometric chamber. The team was made up of three operators and the operations were quite simple, considering that it was simply a matter of mounting the camera on the tripod, adjusting the aperture and exposure time, taking the photographs and filling in the form with the shooting data;     
• verification of the pair of frames, both from a photographic and metric point of view;     
• frame development, numbering and cataloging;     
• filling in the recovery form;     
• insertion of cards in the paper catalog;     
• printing of frames to obtain heliographic copies;     
• tests with the stereoscope;     
• return finalized with the autograph Wild A40.

Consistent with the objectives of the CIPA (Comité International de Photogrammétrie Architecturale), in order to contribute to the establishment of an international photogrammetric archive of architectural heritage and in implementation of the project aimed at "Photogrammetry and protection of the territory", presented on May 30, 1981 round table of the exhibition-conference of architectural photogrammetry, organized in Bari in May 1981, the laboratory launched a campaign to raise awareness of photogrammetric techniques with training courses in schools of all levels and degrees, starting from elementary school.
In 1985 the Agreement was signed with an agreement for the common use of photogrammetric-electronic equipment between the Puglia Region and the University of Bari. On this occasion, the region purchased the photogrammetric restitutor Wild A40, thanks above all to the enthusiasm of the Councilor for Culture, lawyer Pasquale Calvario, whom we see in the following photos in his visit to the laboratory.
